Super Important Lore

In the distant year 210x, a colony on planet Hibukon III has succumbed to a mysterious plague that turns people into horrific flesh hungry creatures known as Freaqs. Impervious to traditional weaponry, they are only capable of being destroyed using special weapons capable of syncing up with a frequency that obliterates the afflicted. You play as a colonist armed with one of those weapons, and need to get through a series of levels to escape. Don't think too hard about the plot, okay?
